ICQ.ca in Pool.com – Can a TM Violation Be More Obvious?

Posted in AOL, Country tlds, Legal, Opinions, Pool on March 28th, 2008 by Michael – Be the first to comment

ICQ.ca in now at auction in Pool.com with current high offer $2302 and over 3 days to go.

Now obviously this LLL.ca domain is only that valuable due to the popular IM program with the same name. So it’s very likely that icq.ca has some very good type in traffic that can let the owner make the money back in just a few months.

But the problem is ICQ is a trademark, which now belongs to AOL. Even if the domain icq.ca will be used for something unrelated to the icq brand AOL can claim it and most likely receive the domain. read more »

iSearch.com Auction on eBay

Posted in Auctions, eBay on March 20th, 2008 by Michael – 1 Comment

Here is one auction to watch closely on eBay

iSearch.com – can it be the next search engine by Apple, or another major web-portal? Either way in the right auction, like the next moniker Traffic, it can fetch 6 figures.

So lets see how much eBay users have to offer. As of now highest offer is little over $40K with 2 hours remaining. My guess is it won’t hit the reserve..

Update: auction ended at $60K. This is truly one of these domains that their price depends largely on how and where you sell them. I’m sure we’ll see this name again this year making big news in the top sales :)

Domain Magnate 1 Week Anniversary, Stats and Plans

Posted in Blogs, Buyouts, Uncategorized on February 15th, 2008 by Michael – Be the first to comment

Yeah time passes by quickly. Would you believe it’s been a whole week since DomainMagnate.com was launched? :D

After one week the blog is averaging over 300 unique visitors per day and growing rapidly. I have big plans for this blog. Many cool things will come out soon.

Unlike many others I’ve been late to the domaining game. Domains with traffic and ppc income were/are too expensive and premium generics are unaffordable. The new players have to use new ways to succeed in domaining: finding bargain deals, following the buyouts and selling.

But there are still fortunes to be made and domaining seems to be living the new boom now, especially inspired by the super high prices of premium generics and quick rise in prices of short domains after big buyouts. Many consider this strategy very risky and it truly is, but the rewards are well worth the risk in this case.

So far most posts of the blog covered the buyouts, because it is the best way to make money in domaining now. How else can you get 1000% in 4 months, other than buying LLLL.com’s?

After the current NNNNN.com buyout we won’t see that many buyouts as in the last months so if you haven’t yet, go and buy some NNNNN.com today.

Yahoo To Stop Arbitrage

Posted in News, PPC, Yahoo on February 13th, 2008 by Michael – Be the first to comment

yahoo
domainnamewire reports

Yahoo will stop allowing arbitrage as of this Friday, will affect other major companies as well.

In a major move sure to have ramifications across the online advertising industry, Yahoo (YHOO) has told its advertising partners that it will no longer accept “arbitraged” traffic as of this Friday. Here’s a look at what this means for domainers and even the revenue of big online advertising companies.

That will be a hard blow to many “domainers” who only had a short term strategy of buy and selling clicks. Few months ago several threads poped up in DNF where people claimed to make over $1-2K/day on arbitrage and parked.com officially confirmed that they allow it. But now, as it was expected, the door has closed.
