VURG started LLLL.com

Posted in LLLL.com, News on July 7th, 2008 by Michael – 2 Comments

www.LLLL.com is the new 4 letter domain portal by VURG, Philip O’Neil:

I have been a big supporter of Namepros in the past couple of years and try to devote some time to helping other members with their domain collections. I love the forums policy of keeping everything free. I expect big things to happen through Namepros in the future. I go by the name VURG and am also involved in other forums with that username including DNForum, DomainState and DNLodge. Online many people call me Vurg, not Phil. (Vurg.com was the first 4 letter domain that I bought.) I also spent a couple of years selling online through the name LessThan96 on eBay, LessThan96.com and LT96.com.

In May 2008, I aquired the domain LLLL.com with the view of using this domain to educate people on LLLL.com (4 letter domains) and provide services. I am currently using this name for blogging but with time plan on improving the domain with other services. This site is all about LLLL.com and so browse around for more info on 4 letter domains.

The site currently has a few interesting articles on LLLL.com domains, chosen sales history and links to auctions. More to come so add the name to your bookmarks.

BQB.com - New Domain MarketPlace

Posted in Auctions, For sale, News, Press on May 6th, 2008 by Michael – 6 Comments

bqbBQB.com has recently started operating as a new auction site for short domains:

BQB.com is a no commission, next generation domain name auction platform dedicated to short domains. Founded in March 2008, BQB.com Inc seeks to reduce the pain sellers of domain names currently endure, paying exhorbitant commissions which are in our opinion often unjustified. BQB.com also seeks to create a marketplace for short domain names, which we believe will continue to be one of the strongest appreciating internet investments for many years to come. BQB is founded on Professionalism - each member is individually screened, successful applications are manually approved. Better Quality Business really is just a few keystrokes away! read more »

Interview With Tetrapak by DomainMagnate

Posted in Articles, Development, GoDaddy, Interviews, Opinions on April 25th, 2008 by Michael – 5 Comments

DomainMagnate.com presents an interview with Daniel, or tetrapak on NamePros and DNForum. Daniel is 23 and a full time domainer/web developer

- How long have you been into domaining and how did you get into it?
The story how i got into the domain industry is a bit funny, at least i can laugh now.. 4 years ago i’ve been helping a guy developing his Dubai related business website, and he promised a lot of things, like to be partners and such. I already had a website under developement with the first domain registered by myself, since then it is my biggest website with over 100k uniques per month, but that is another story. So this guy obviously haven’t paid for my work, but he introduced me the so called domain parking.. He sent me over an XLS file with his earnings of the last month. I was simply amazed when i saw that such domains as *Company*Properties.com (TM name..) can earn $8,000 / month purely by registering it and changing the nameservers. So with his help i figured i would register similar domains, as his top 10 domains were all earning 1k$+ / month, i thought i have nothing to lose. First i registered Properties*Company*.com/.net/.org.. and quickly parked them. Now i was officially R I C H. Then came the surprise… Day 1, no earnings.. Day 3 no earnings.. Day 6 ONE unique visitor! Now, i contacted the guy about my “problem”, and i told him that i believe he has faked his stats.. He said his brother is the one dealing with the domains, so he has nothing to do with them, but he knows a way to get a 50k offer on a domain. Which was…: Sedo Featured Listing! Yes, you guess it right, i had another 40$ burned. No sale… Of course he was surprised, but he asked me a favor, to bid on his domain (regfee name..) on Tdnam for 8k, he said there would be people to overbid me anyway. Sure. This was the end and luckily i had no contact with him since then. The good thing is, i started to earn with Adsense, and everything i earned i have reinvested in domains that were suggested by the friendly guys at over Namepros. The first serious sale was of a regfee hyphenated name for 8k that i registered in my first year.

- How many domains do you own and what is your primary focus?
Xxx names, it changes every day. No dot mobis and no dot asias :) I mostly own .com’s, but i prefer any other tlds for developement. I had success with .info’s as well, they are my lovely cheap ones (except the renewals!). read more »

LLLL.com Drops Reduce

LLLL.com Drops Reduce according this this graph posted over at namepros by Ergo

The reducing number of dropping LLLL.com’s should have a positive effect on the market pricing, because there will be less 4L domains on auctions while the demand stays the same, prices are expected to rise faster.

Premium LLLL.net Buyout

Posted in Buyouts, LLLL.com, LLLL.net on February 8th, 2008 by Michael – 1 Comment

Last Premium LLLL.net’s were bought out on Feb,5 2007 - 3 days ago. Now you can already see threads on namepros selling these for $20-25 each and some are getting purchased. It’s pretty obvious that these will grow in price and based on past LLL.net growth and LLLL.com quick rise to power, I predict the premium LLLL.net’s to have a minimum price of $50-100 by the end of the year - not a bad return for those who bought them for $5 each. I bought 400 premium LLLL.net’s myself, could have bought many more, but I figured I’d better keep these and renew them next year if needed as I’m mostly concentrating on LLLL.com’s now.

That comes to show the enormous leverage of a buyout. LLLL.com domains that were available 4 months ago are now selling for $60-70 and will continue to grow at high rates while new players enter the market and boost the prices by buying the 4 letter names in large quantities. At some point, several months from now, the prices will stabilize and continue growing at more regular rates close, but still higher than the LLL.com’s do now. Although the biggest winners will be the ones who originally registered the domains and had enough patience for the prices to grow to turn their $7 registration fee domains into $100+ domains.

All the decent cvcv.net/vcvc.net seem to be taken as well and have certain reseller value. People are also buying all good LLLL.net’s now inspired by the LLLL.com’s, but I think many of them will be disappointed because there are about 220K LLLL.net’s remaining. And unless a name belongs to a special category which was already bought out, like premium LLLL.net’s, or cvcv.net etc, it won’t have reseller value.A domain that looks “cool” to one person can be total garbage for rest, that’s why the safe way is always to buy domains that are supposed to run out soon. It’ll take years till we see the last of LLLL.net’s purchased, my prediction is 5 years or more - so don’t get too excited about these. There are more profitable opportunities around the corner ;)
