Domainers Are Winners

Posted in DNForum, Funny, Opinions on July 11th, 2008 by Michael – 1 Comment

The most popular thread on dnforum currently is this one: Domainers are Losers

As usually the dumbest threads get the highest exposure, but naturally there are also a couple good points raised in the thread. The OP intended that most people joining the industry don’t succeed that well, and this is probably right, same way as in any other business. Many domainers mentioned their successes as well in the posts.

Some interesting posts worth mentioning: read more »

DATO.com on Sedo Closing NOW

Posted in Auctions, For sale, LLLL.com on May 13th, 2008 by Michael – 1 Comment

DATO.com

- 70 Million google results
- Means “Data” in Spanish – one of the most valuable keywords
- DataRecovery.com recently sold for $1.7 MILLION!
- VINO.com was on GreatDomains auction last month and bidding went up to $66K

Bid here

Perfect domain for any IT related company in a Spanish speaking country and one of the best CVCV.com’s around!

DATO means Data in Spanish, but to the hundreds of possible endusers around the world, DATO is so much more than a Spanish dictionary word. Can you say 80 million + Google results? How about literally hundreds of daily Wordtracker results which include the word “dato” in them?

DataRecovery.com recently sold for $1.7 MILLION dollars! Spanish is the MOST POPULAR foreign language in the United States and ranks THIRD Worldwide in Internet users.

We ask you this… What would Data.com go for? Pause. Think about that for a sec…
Then tell me how Dato.com isn’t one of not only the greatest spanish generics auctioned this year, but one of the greatest generics period. Worldwide Internet penetration continues to increase… This is a domain which will forever have value, forever be recognize as a Tier 1 Spanish domain, and continue to increase in value for many, many years to come.

Need I really say more? If I haven’t sold you on DATO yet, I don’t think you’ve been listening — or you clearly don’t understand THE BIGGEST OPPORTUNITY IN THIS CENTURY, which is premium foreign language domain names.

DATO is an incredibly strong CVCV that flows off the tongue like any True CVCV should. DATO is being offered to you with NO RESERVE. In short, this domain WILL SELL, regardless of what’s offered. Arguably The Strongest CVCV offered on Sedo EVER.

Compare this to VINO (wine in Italian) which received offers of $60,000 and DID NOT MEET THE RESERVE. We’re giving you a once in a lifetime chance to pick up a Tier 1 premium for pennies on the dollar… There might never be an opportunity like this again!

Compare to domains like:

POPA.com sold on Sedo $15000+
ZOYO.om sold on Sedo 6000EUR ($9000+)

… and I think you’ll feel as confident as me in saying that this is a 6 figure domain any day of the week to a Spanish enduser.

Microsoft abandons Yahoo bid

Posted in Microsoft, Yahoo on May 4th, 2008 by Michael – Be the first to comment

Thi came as surprise..

according to a letter from Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer to Yahoo Chief Executive Jerry Yang.

But Yahoo demanded at least $53 billion, or $37 per share, according to Ballmer. That would have been nearly double Yahoo’s stock price of $19.18 at the time Microsoft first made its bid a little over three months ago.

“Clearly a deal is not to be,” Ballmer wrote.

A spokeswoman for Sunnyvale-based Yahoo didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment. read more »

Fehu.com vs. Rihu.com

Posted in LLLL.com, Opinions, Sedo on April 22nd, 2008 by Michael – 5 Comments

I was just checking the recent sales of cvcv.com at tdvr.com and noticed a strange thing.

rihu.com $1,566.00 Apr/16/08 04:00 PM EST Sedo
fehu.com $3,000.00 Apr/14/08 10:53 PM CEST Sedo

Both sold on sedo, same week, almost same letters and similar quality, yet such a big difference in price, why?

“Fehu” has 162K results in google and there is a developed site over at fehu.org, with alexa below 1 million, so it has some traffic. It also seems to have some mystical meaning, but that can hardly contribute much to a reseller price. read more »

Pizza.com Closed at $2.6 Million and more..

Posted in Auctions, Sedo on April 4th, 2008 by Michael – 1 Comment

The Monthly GreatDomains Closed with pizza.com fetching 2.6M today – would be interesting to see who bought it once the whois changes – if it does, for all we know about sedo it could’ve been a hoax. Iinspired by this domain’s sale price Pizza.info has now been put up for sale at Sedo as well. Bidding is currently at $1,050.

Accesories.com – a typo, with high number of google results sold for $7700

Fela.com ended at $6700 – not bad premium cvcv.com prices are on the rise and they are the new LLL.com now.

VYI.com ended at $8k.

DRT.com ended at only $21K, needless to say the reserve wasn’t met.
