A New Tld Around the Corner .me

Posted in Country tlds, ICANN, News on April 10th, 2008 by Michael – 1 Comment

.me is about to be launched. Sounds pretty good for a personal site. I think many people would like it and it has many cool possibilities, like kill.me, love.me, hug.me, pay.me etc. A tld that is also a word!

.ME Registry officials today announced the roll-out plan for .ME, the new domain name extension. .ME is expected to be utilized as both a personalized Web address and as a catchy business marketing tool around the world.

The registry will begin accepting .ME applications in May, for the start of what is known as the General Sunrise Period, a time when only trademark owners can apply. However, registrars who sign up before that time can start accepting Sunrise and Landrush applications and pre-registration requests, as soon as they’d like. As was the case with .ASIA, multiple parties will be allowed to submit applications for the same domain name. Domain names that receive more than one application will go to an auction process. .ME Registry officials today announced the roll-out plan for .ME, the new domain name extension. .ME is expected to be utilized as both a personalized Web address and as a catchy business marketing tool around the world.

Pizza.com up to $1,750,000

Posted in Auctions, Sedo on March 29th, 2008 by Michael – Be the first to comment

Update: up to $2MM now and reserve reached!

Pizza.com up to $1,750,000, but reserve not reached yet.

It’s interesting that there were bids of $999,999 and $49,999, $19,999 for pizza and autos.net, drt.com. Which only looks fake, why would anyone bid near the reserve range? ;)

Reserve also met for n5.com now with high bid $13k. Many NL.com were sold for $30-50K lately so this might turn out to be the bargain of the auction.

There are also some cheap domains that got no, or low reserves and no low prices:

flamed.com $110
profession.net $200
fela.com $750
tinkle.com $1550

ICQ.ca in Pool.com – Can a TM Violation Be More Obvious?

Posted in AOL, Country tlds, Legal, Opinions, Pool on March 28th, 2008 by Michael – Be the first to comment

ICQ.ca in now at auction in Pool.com with current high offer $2302 and over 3 days to go.

Now obviously this LLL.ca domain is only that valuable due to the popular IM program with the same name. So it’s very likely that icq.ca has some very good type in traffic that can let the owner make the money back in just a few months.

But the problem is ICQ is a trademark, which now belongs to AOL. Even if the domain icq.ca will be used for something unrelated to the icq brand AOL can claim it and most likely receive the domain. read more »

Pizza.com To Be Auctioned on Sedo

Posted in For sale, Sedo on March 22nd, 2008 by Michael – 3 Comments

pizza.com

Pizza.com is scheduled to be auctioned in GreatDomains monthly auction in 5 days.

Reserve is set to above 1 million and if it sells we might see another high value sale to top the annually charts.

Pizza.com is also a small developed site, which in this case probably doesn’t add much value. The new owner will definitely build something much larger to bring profits that can justify a 7 figures price for the domain.

Widgets.com on eBay

Posted in eBay, News on March 22nd, 2008 by Michael – 5 Comments

This week Rick Schwartz decided to quit blogging and put widgets.com on ebay.com

With 4 days to go now the auction is up to $120k

I’m pretty sure the reserve won’t be reached and domain won’t sell, so no idea why Rick decided to do that. eBay is certainly not the place to sell a domain like that.

Looks like he didn’t even take the time to write a proper description, read more »

iSearch.com Auction on eBay

Posted in Auctions, eBay on March 20th, 2008 by Michael – 1 Comment

Here is one auction to watch closely on eBay

iSearch.com – can it be the next search engine by Apple, or another major web-portal? Either way in the right auction, like the next moniker Traffic, it can fetch 6 figures.

So lets see how much eBay users have to offer. As of now highest offer is little over $40K with 2 hours remaining. My guess is it won’t hit the reserve..

Update: auction ended at $60K. This is truly one of these domains that their price depends largely on how and where you sell them. I’m sure we’ll see this name again this year making big news in the top sales :)
