Rewind.com @ $25K - A Good Deal?

Rewind.com was just sold for $25K on dnforum. Sold in less than 2 hours after it was posted.

Comments in the thread suggest it’s a good catch, but I don’t quite see why and how it can be used.

What do you think, is it a good deal or not?

“Similar” name viewed.com was sold for $5k a year ago on dnforum as well.

CogNews.com Sold for $2755 on TDNam

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

CogNews.com just Sold for $2755 on TDNam.

The domain is not something, but it used to be a popular site and it has a pr6 and over 20K links in yahoo.

Also alexa below a million, which indicates it has some decent traffic. I was in the auction, but decided to give it up eventually.

LLL.ca Sales Boost in July

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Some LLL.ca were auctioned in myid, pool and sibername in July 2008, here are some of the results as posted on dnforum:

tus.ca - $297
xcc.ca - $121
smb.ca - $655
otk.ca - $259
tbb.ca - $615
tlx.ca - $101
bjp.ca - $250
ewq.ca - $101
ghj.ca - $101
glq.qc.ca - $2250
hjk.ca - $101
lkj.ca - $100
zgs.ca $240
jph.ca $300
vvm.ca $152

Prices have been raising quickly during the last months. The better ones seem to get good prices in $200-300 and all premium letters fetch $600+. The recent sale of gmx.ca for over $30K must have helped too.

I still have a few LLL.ca’s at bargain prices here - these are going quick, so hurry up!

From $10,000 to $1,600

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I had an interesting buying experience recently. I wanted to purchase a certain domain and inquired about it, the owner responded quickly saying that he “gets offers for it frequently and also has plans to develop it, however $10k would convince him to sell.” - a good reply you’d expect from a domainer.

That was quite above what I was going to offer, however I decided to try my luck and replied that my max offer is $1500 - which is a good market price for the domain. Of course I had little expectation from this since he made it pretty clear before that only $10k would make him part with the name. However surprisingly just a few hours later I received a reply saying that he’s ready to sell it for $2150.. (more…)

Possible First Reported $xxx, xxx idn Sale

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

According to this thread on dnf and this one in idnforums there might have been a $xxx, xxx sale for an idn domain.

The domain was not publicly disclosed, however it is a Russian term. Alexa is 0, so there is probably not much traffic.

Other posts indicate that  there were other previous $xxx, xxx sales and the idn  market is simply not transparent enough, however several investors are spending big bucks on names they think will be much more in the years to come.

From idnforums:

I recently bought 1 idn for xxx,xxx
Some may say it is way over priced if you are comparing it to the current ‘market’ that is practically isn’t born yet but i prefer to pay more now then getting to the point where it just wont be for sale.

The $xxx, xxx sale has been confirmed as a Russian IDN , the $x,xxx, xxx “sale” still waiting for further info.
Also confirmed a Chinese seller sold a .cn for a good $xx,xxx to a business in China.

IDN domains are a highly controversial market. Many domainers believe it’s a waste of money while others predict it to take off big time. What’s your take on that?

Random Tip #71 - Sell Frequently

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

Many newbie domainers go on a buying spree excited by all the reports of high sales and opportunities presented in the industry. But as you know high prices fetched by individual sales don’t always show the market price and finding end users may turn out to be much more complicated.

By selling, or at least trying to sell a few domains once in a while you can get a better understanding of the market and current prices. Even if you are a buyer, and planning to invest in a few good domains to hold them for a long time, listing them for offers on a domaining forum can you get a good idea of the market price. This can also be useful if you need to sell the domains quick to raise funds - you’d already know what price you can expect for a quick sale.
