Time to Buy Mars Domains

Monday, May 26th, 2008

NASA successful landing on Mars should draw more attention to the Red Planet and it’s a good time to grab some decent Mars related domains if you haven’t yet..

Despite the success of NASA’s Spirit and Opportunity missions, directors remained anxious Sunday over the first-ever landing of a probe near Mars’ north pole to find signs of life.

“I do not feel confident. But in my heart I’m an optimist, and I think this is going to be a very successful mission,” said principal investigator Peter Smith, an optical scientist with the University of Arizona. “The thrill of victory is so much more exciting than the agony of defeat.”  Forex brokers

The Mars Phoenix Lander was wrapping up its 296-day, 422 million-mile journey Sunday, with about a 50-50 chance of a successful touchdown on the arctic plains of the Red Planet, NASA officials said. (more…)

Live TRAFFIC Auction Brings $2.55MM

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

The recent live auction at the TRAFFIC show netted only $2,555,00, which is a big downtime from last action. The most lively domain of the day was one we picked out last week, postalcodes.com, which rode all the way from a $1,000 reserve, to a $42,000 selling price. Reportedly there were only 75 people in attendance at the start of the auction and another 75 online, which is quite different from previous shows when there were several hundred people in live audience. The highest price recorded was $225,000 which was a tie between, GasPrices.com and InsuranceRates.com.

As expected .mobi is losing its popularity fast: computers.mobi and men.mobi sold for $9,500 and $10,000 respectively. The highest .mobi of the day was mortgage.mobi which sold for $18,000.

Only 105 of the domains sold. Here is the full list of all domains that sold :

$225,000 gasprices.com
$225,000 insurancerates.com
$170,000 rainbow.com
$122,000 athlete.com
$120,000 ow.com
$120,000 ringtones.org

Don’t Sell LLLL.com’s on Sedo!

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Don’t sell quad premium 4l.com’s and quad premium 4l.com’s with 3 repeating letters on Sedo! Strangely enough the prices on sedo no reserve auctions for these don’t reach near the levels that people  are ready to pay for them on domaining forums.

That said, it’s true sedo has some good deals lately, if you’re planning to grab a few good LLLL.com’s go buy some there.

A quick comparison: DDDB.com is now taking offers on DNF, as of now the highest offer is $1500, a few similar and even domains ended considerably lower on sedo:

SSSA.com $1,108.00 05/02/2008 Sedo
dddf.com $905.00 04/23/2008 Sedo

ICANN Sends Notice of Breach to Registrar

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

ICANN sent a notice of breach [PDF, 81K] to ICANN-accredited registrar Red Register, Inc. based on Red Register, Inc.’s failure to comply with the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (”UDRP”). Specifically, Red Register failed to comply with UDRP Rule 16(a) and paragraph 4(k) of the UDRP despite repeated requests by ICANN and the National Arbitration Forum (“NAF”). These rules require registrars to communicate plans to implement UDRP Provider decisions and implement those decisions.

Consistent with the breach provisions of the Registrar Accreditation Agreement (”RAA”), ICANN requested that Red Register, Inc. act within 15 days to cure the cited breaches. If Red Register, Inc. fails to cure the breaches cited in ICANN’s notice of breach, ICANN will pursue all remedies available under the terms of the RAA, including termination. (more…)

New LLLL.com PriceGuide by Reece

Monday, May 19th, 2008

New LLLL.com PriceGuide by Reece is out

As can be seen, prices have stabilized and are no longer fluctuating significantly in either direction, which is a good indicator of a healthy market long term. Lately, there have been far more lower quality LLLL.com sales than there have been higher quality LLLL.com sales, so I’ve been forced to remove the upper percentiles to avoid giving major confusion to what higher quality premium and pronounceable LLLL.coms go for.
The quad premium market continues to perform abysmally, while the pronounceable and rare markets seem to have stabilized, much like the low end. Min wholesale on quad premiums is approximately $330, identical to what was reported in the previous 4 Letter Noob update, however prices nearing the minimum appear to be occuring considerably more frequently.
